FAQ


Q1: Where are you located?
A1: Detailed answer to this question can be found at our Access. Although, make the long explanation short, Tokyo Ryokan is located in Asakusa downtown in Tokyo city center. It is 4-5 minutes walk to nearest subway station called Tawaramachi ( G18 ) on Ginza line ( Tokyo Metro ). Asakusa station is about 8-10 minutes walk. For better mapping, please see our map. It is 3 minutes to Ueno, 17 minutes to Ginza, 26 minutes to Shibuya by the subway. You may also find out where Asakusa ( not Akasaka ) is in greater Tokyo at Tokyo Map.
Q2: Is there curfew? Do we have to vacate the room during day time?
A2: There is no curfew. But please consider others probably sleeping during night time. 'After 21:00', please advise us in advance, we shall have you prepared for the key for the main entrance, which should be done at your check-in time. You are welcome to stay in your room during day time until the last day of your checking out. Check-out time is 10:00AM, please.
Q3: Where can we put our luggages until our train/bus/airplane leaves. Any charge?
A3: Please pack your luggage in good shape so that we can keep our eyes on. It will be securely stored in our lock-up place until you leave for next destination, station/bus-stop/airport. There is no charge. We are also happy to keep yours while you travel around Japan ( until your second stay at Tokyo Ryokan ), in which case, we would kindly like to ask you to pay the second stay room charge before you leave.
Q4: Does room have air-condition? Cost for it? Does shower-room has hotwater? Any charge?
A4: Each room is heated in winter, cooled in summer. There is no extra cost for the air-condition. It is flat rate at 3,000yen a night a person including tax. Shower room ( communal use with lock inside ) is available for 24 hours with hot/cold water. No extra charge required.
Q5: Discount ticket for Narita Airport, Nikko and Kinugawa Onsen, how does it work, and how much?
A5: Tickets are available only at our reception.
#1. It is 900yen one way to Narita Airport ( terminal 1 and terminal 2 the same fare ) by Limited Express. Normal fare is 1,000yen. You can upgrade it to Skyliner ( 10 minutes faster with reserved seat ) by paying extra 920yen at Ueno station.
#2. It is 1,100yen one way to Nikko or Kinugawa-Onsen ( hot-spring ) by Rapid Express. Normal fare is 1,320yen or 1,500yen respectively. It is much cheaper than JR Pass ( even compare to per-day-calculation ).
Q6: Any Amenities?
A6: Very sorry, we do not provide towel. bathrobe, tooth brush, tooth paste, soap, shampoo, hair-dry. Therefore, it is advisable to bring your own gear, please. There is only one hair-dryer available at the office. No worry for basic night. There is a pillow and sleeping facilities with sheet provided.
Q7: Meal provided at Tokyo Ryokan?
A7: We are sorry, but there is no meal served at Tokyo Ryokan. Although, there are many restaurants including Sushi, Tempra, Ramen, Udon, Soba, Okonomiyaki, Monja, Yakiniku, Shabu-shabu, Sukiyaki, Unagi, Dojo and Western, Indian, Chinese, Korean as well, in a short walking distance.

Q8: Is the hot-spring ( onsen ) place real? Or just a public bath using running water?
A8: It is the real onsen using hot-spring, mineral water from somewhere underneath of our planet. Pictures and details in Japanese is available at Jakotsuyu, please. It is only 430yen per one adult ( sauna costs extra yen ) from 13:00 - 23:30, except Tuesdays.
Q9: Is there any laundry service?
A9: Not inside Tokyo Ryokan, but at above mentioned onsen place ( please refer to A9 for Jakotsuyu ), there are coin operated laundry opening 9:00am - 23:00, except Tuesdays and some National Holidays.
