Q : Where are you located?
Tokyo Ryokan is located in Asakusa, one of the Shi-ta-ma-chi towns of Tokyo downtown, you can experience the atmosphere of Edo, the old Tokyo. It is 4 min. walk to nearest metro station Tawaramachi (G18) on Tokyo Metro Ginza Line. Asakusa station is about 8 min. walk. JR Ueno station is slowly 15 min. walk. Love simple map? Easy access to many popular sightseeing spots like Ueno (3 min.), Akihabara (5 min.), Tokyo main station (15 min.), Ginza (16 min.), Roppongi (20 min.), Shinjuku (25 min.), Harajuku (25 min.), Shibuya (26 min.), and you can also take ferry from Sumida River Park to the Tokyo Bay area, for instance, to visit Odaiba. Nikko can be reached by direct train on Tobu Skytree Line from Asakusa station. There are also direct connections to/from both Narita Airport and Haneda Airport. Tokyo Skytree (at Oshiage station and at Tokyo Skytree station) is in nice walking distance (about 2.1km).
Q : What is the fastest and easiest way to Tokyo Ryokan from NRT? and from HND?
NRT (Narita Airport) : Please take Keisei Skyliner (about 45 min., 2,470yen) to the last stop, Keisei Ueno station (all Skyliner is terminated at Keisei Ueno station). Transfer to Tokyo Metro Ginza Line for Tawaramachi station (G18), takes 3 min. costs 165yen or 170yen. Tokyo Ryokan is about 4 min. walk from Tawaramachi station. HND (Haneda Airport) : Please take KEIKYU (Kei-hin Kyu-ko) train, but NOT Tokyo Monorail. KEIKYU has direct train service to Asakusa.......from International terminal station, it costs JPY614 or JPY620 and it takes about 36 minutes.......from Domestic terminal station, it costs JPY655 or JPY660 and it takes about 38 minutes.

TAXI ride is easy and convenient, costs around 410yen - 890yen depending on which exit of which station (either Asakusa station or Ueno station) direct to Tokyo Ryokan.
Q : Is there curfew? Do we have to vacate the room during day time?
There is no curfew. But please consider others probably sleeping during night time. After 20:00 which is 08:00pm, please inquire us in advance, we shall have you prepared for the key for the main entrance, which should be done at your check-in time. You are welcome to stay in your room during day time until the last day of your checking out. Check-out time is before 10:00am, please.
Q : Possible early-check-in and late-check-out available?
Yes, early-check-in is available upon arrival at JPY1,000 a person. Please ask us when you arrive at Tokyo Ryokan. Availability and time condition varies.

No, late-check-out is not available. Latest check-out is 10:00AM of your last day, please. For left-luggage, please read below. We would like to recommend that you'd book one extra night/day should you need to depart Tokyo late in the afternoon.
Q : Where can we put our luggage until our train/bus/airplane leaves. Any charge?
Please pack your luggage in good shape so that we can keep our eyes on. It will be securely stored in our lock-up place until 12:00 noon lunch hour (please pick-up before 12:00 noon lunch time) of your check-out day. Or, you may consider station coin locker please (locker size is mentioned on the link page), or same price of coin-locker at Tokyo Ryokan but only until 18:00 = 06:00pm.
We are happy to keep yours while you travel around Japan (until your second stay at Tokyo Ryokan), in which case, we would kindly like to ask you to pay the second stay room charge before you check-out the first stay. Or, you can ship your item to anywhere inside Japan via Kuro-Neko (Black-Cat) Ta-Q-Bin. Their handling stations are within short walk distance from Tokyo Ryokan. For example, if you deliver your luggage before 18:00 = 6:00pm, it will reach to Kyoto next afternoon.
Q : Does room have air-condition? Is there a room with toilet and shower?
Each room is heated in winter, cooled in summer, at good eco temperature. There is no extra cost for the air-condition. Shower room (communal use with lock inside) is available for 24 hours with hot/cold water. No extra charge required. There is no en-suit, there is no attached shower nor attached toilet. All facilities are in communal use. Tokyo Ryokan has 3 guest rooms, and a toilet and a shower room. Thank you so much for your sincere caring to share our facilities with other guests.
Q : Is the hot-spring (onsen) place nearby your house real? Or just a public bath using tap water?
It is the real onsen using hot-spring, mineral water, from 1,000 meter underneath of Tokyo city. Main mineral contained in the natural water is H2SiO3 and NaHCO3, good for maintaining your skin young. Pictures and details in Japanese is available at Jakotsuyu, please. It is only 460yen per one adult (sauna costs extra 200yen) from 13:00 - 23:40 (01:00pm - 11:40pm), except Tuesdays. First time to bath in Japan? Q : Is there any laundry service?
Not inside Tokyo Ryokan, but at above mentioned onsen place (Jakotsuyu), there are coin operated laundry machines opening 09:00am - 22:00 (09:00am - 10:00pm), except Tuesdays. When you see blue sky in the early morning, pleased to be asked for the service.
Q : Any amenities?
Very sorry, no amenities, we do not provide bathrobe, tooth brush, tooth paste, yukata....... Therefore, it is advisable to bring your own, please. There is only one hair-dryer available at the office for all three rooms. No worry for basic night. There is a pillow (both feather and buckwheat-husk) and sleeping facilities with sheets provided. Only Japanese style futon on tatami mat, but there is no western bed available. Hurt your back after long flight/s? Foot-ache-leg-ache after long walk? How about hot spring in 2 - 3 minutes walk (above mentioned Jakotsuyu)? or Onsen tour?
Q : Meal provided at Tokyo Ryokan?
We are sorry, but there is no meal served at Tokyo Ryokan. Although, there are so many restaurants including Kaiseki, Tofu, Sushi, Inari, Tempura, Ramen, Sashimi, Udon, Soba, Tsukemen, Tonkatsu, Takoyaki, Taiyaki, Chahan, Yakimeshi, Yakitori, Yakiniku, Yakisoba, Okonomiyaki, Monjayaki, Hiroshimayaki, Shabushabu, Sukiyaki, Unagi, Kara-age, Gyudon, Oyakodon, Tendon, Katsudon, Butadon, Unadon, Onigiri, Fugu, Oden, Gyoza, Shumai, Kushikatsu, Nabe, Chanko, Izakaya, Robatayaki, Teppanyaki, Sake, Shochu, Umeshu and more. Q : Bicycle rent, rental cycle, anywhere nearby? PRIUS, GT-R, MARK-X, and more.
Yes, new electric-powered-bicycle can be hired from nearby ORIX Rent-a-Car. No more sweat on bike while you are riding downtown Tokyo (west of Ueno, beyond Ueno, are hilly area with up and down). Asakusa, Ueno, Akihabara, Ginza, Tsukiji, Odaiba has flat road. AsakusaGuide.jp has every information you need. And would you also like to enjoy driving Japanese Car here in Japan? We would like to recommend Nippon-Rent-A-Car or Toyota-Rent-A-Car both nearby us. Or would you like to ride on Jin-Riki-Sha (Jinrikisha) available in English and highly recommended. Just need cheap and simple one from Tsukuba Express Asakusa station? 4 hours (until 20:00) is JPY200, one-whole-day (up to 20:00) is JPY300. 3-day-rent including night-parking is JPY800.
